My Memories of "A Christmas Carol"

Connie and I both auditioned for the WICA production of "A Christmas Carol"
in 2003. Connie was asked to protray Belle, young Scrooge's fiancee, and a
soliciter, and I was given the parts of Thomas Shelly and a man on the street.

Our director from Seattle's professional Intiman Theater reviewed several
scripts and selected one that dramatized Scrooge's early years. She
concentrated on the emotional scene where Belle ends her engagement to
Scrooge. I recall many extra rehearsals of the scene intended to bring out its
intense emotions. The performances were successful, even though one of
the actors forgot there was a Saturday matinee performance and arrived just
in time to assume his role. That emotional scene was so intense that several
actors joined me in the wings to watch Connie's moving performance.
