A tour of the Seattle FilmWorks lab generally leaves visitors amazed! We have created one of the most innovative photofinishing operations in the world, dedicated to bringing you the highest quality, best value product available.
The Seattle FilmWorks lab is located just north
of downtown Seattle, on the waterfront of Elliott Bay at Pier 89.
It is a 65,000 sq. ft facility, incorporating extensive use of
computer-controlled automation and the latest in state-of-the-art
photofinishing equipment. We also have an additional 70,000 sq.
ft facility dedicated to warehousing and other operations, and
just recently annexed two more adjacent buildings which contain
additional offices and warehouse space.
In our film processing center, the quality of
processing is carefully controlled by our Comprehensive Quality
Network computer system, and tested and regulated by our staff of
quality control engineers. We process about 20 miles of film
every day, and every inch is visually inspected by our lab
technicians.
Once your negatives are processed, they are printed onto photographic paper using one of our eleven $400,000 Agfa Multi-Scanning printers. These highly sophisticated computerized printers analyze each negative frame prior to printing to ensure optimum color, contrast, and balance for each of your photos. The photographic paper is then processed through one of our three paper processors.
Each and every print is visually inspected for
quality. If the prints do not meet our highest standards, we
print them again to ensure you get only the best possible
pictures from your film.
Seattle FilmWorks has been processing film for customers around the world for over 20 years. On a typical day, our 800+ employees process over 20 miles of film in our state-of-the-art 65,000 sq ft lab.
Respected national publications have rated our photofinishing as the best in the country! When you send us a roll of film for processing, you'll discover for yourself why we have a world-wide reputation for superior quality and service.
A "big" one-hour lab may process several dozen rolls of film a day. We do tens of thousands of rolls a day. That means we can afford the best equipment to give you the finest quality.
For example, a one-hour lab photofinishing machine costs about $60,000. The Seattle FilmWorks Print-Ops department has eleven fully computerized multiscanning printers which cost over $400,000 each. They automatically analyze each-and-every frame from your film and adjust for the best color and contrast. And each unit is calibrated daily before production begins by a quality-control technician. This is the kind of technical sophistication a storefront lab just can't match.
