Faith and the Works of the Gospel
James 1:22, “But prove yourselves doers of the
word, and not merely
hearers who delude themselves.”
1. Tested Faith
James 1:2-4, "Consider it all joy, my
brethren, when you encounter
various trials, knowing that testing of your faith produces endurance.
And let endurance have its perfect [mature] result, so that you may
be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."
Tested Faith results in Persevering Work
2. True Faith
James 1:27 "Pure and undefiled religion
[true faith] in the sight of
our God and Father is this: to visit [to care for] orphans and widows
in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world."
True Faith results in Pure Work
3. Timely Faith
James 4:17 "Therefore, to one who knows the
right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin."
Timely Faith results in Practical Work
